Las prospecciones y reconocimientos arqueológicos fueron realizados para conocer el potencial de sitios, iniciar la toma de datos para hacer un mapa de sitios de los alrededores de la ciudad de Caraz, y en general, de la margen derecha del río Santa y las márgenes derecha e izquierda del río Llullán, el cual vierte por la quebrada de Parón y al pie norte del gran nevado Huandoy.
